The normal feather-color pools of these birds include white feathers: Black-crowned Night Heron, Sparrow, Long-tailed Tit, Cockatiel, Macaw, Budgerigar, Spotted Dove, Pigeon, Seagull, Myna, Umbrella Cockatoo, Hummingbird. Molting and shearing each select a random color; this color is not guaranteed every time.
Shearing albino birds also gives white feathers.
How to use
Shearing feathers
Hold shears and right-click a bird to get 1 feather, using 1 durability. The same bird has a 5-minute wait before it can be sheared again, and cannot fly during that time.
Crafting a Wind Feather Fan
At a crafting table, combine 6 mod feathers with 1 stick to make a Wind Feather Fan. You can mix all 15 colors; they do not all have to be white feathers. Mod feathers and vanilla feathers are different materials. Mod feathers cannot replace the vanilla feather in the Field Guide recipe.

Drop conditions
Birds naturally shed feathers about every 10–20 minutes when a player is nearby and molting conditions are met. Otherwise, the check is postponed. Killing birds does not drop feathers.
