Feeding and taming

Right-click with seeds, sweet berries, glow berries, spider eyes or apples to feed it. A wild bird has a chance to be tamed when it accepts food. Feeding a tamed adult restores a little health and can put it into love mode when the conditions are met.

Flock trust

One friendly feeding makes birds of the same species within about 12 blocks less wary. This changes their wariness of players; it does not tame the other birds at the same time.

Companion commands

Once tamed, the owner can sneak and right-click with an empty hand to cycle through Free, Follow, Stay and Return to Nest. The current mode appears on screen. Servers can disable this feature. A bird may still prioritize escaping danger.

Perching and daily routine

It mainly moves among branches in forests and along forest edges. At dusk, flockmates find places to perch in a row.

Wheat seeds, melon seeds, pumpkin seeds, beetroot seeds, torchflower seeds, pitcher pods, sweet berries, glow berries, spider eyes and apples.

These are the food tags in the current local build. Items contaminated with bird droppings are not treated as normal food for feeding.
