Taming with seeds
Hold seeds and right-click to feed it. Each attempt consumes one item and tries to tame it. Wheat seeds and beetroot seeds have a higher success chance than other seeds. Feeding again shortly afterward, while it is still willing to approach you, also has a higher success chance.
Companion commands
Once tamed, the owner can sneak and right-click with an empty hand to cycle through Free, Follow, Stay and Return to Nest. The current mode appears on screen. Servers can disable this feature. A bird may still prioritize escaping danger.
Music discs and dancing
Put the UwU Funk Music Disc in a jukebox. Pigeons within 16 blocks are attracted and dance after approaching to about three blocks. They stop when playback ends.
Flocks and weather
It often strolls through towns and open areas during the day and senses the weather to adjust where it perches or shelters from rain. The field guide's diet description does not mean every food can be used for right-click taming. See the food list for accepted seeds.

These are the food tags in the current local build. Items contaminated with bird droppings are not treated as normal food for feeding.
