Cassowary

Back away when warned

When an unfamiliar player approaches, the cassowary first watches, then becomes alert, then lowers its body in warning. Moving closer can trigger a high-speed charge. Backing away allows its hostility to subside gradually.

Temporary trust

Feed it an accepted fruit, berry or seed directly, or drop food nearby, to temporarily earn the trust of cassowaries in the same area. It will still watch you. Attacking it breaks that trust.

Trust does not make a cassowary a pet. It does not follow an owner or accept companion commands.

Rest and nearby mobs

It is more active in the early morning and evening, may rest during the midday heat, and sleeps at night. Zombies, skeletons and spiders usually avoid it.

Apples, melon slices, sweet berries, glow berries, wheat seeds, beetroot seeds, pumpkin seeds, melon seeds and spider eyes.

These are the food tags in the current local build. Items contaminated with bird droppings are not treated as normal food for feeding.
